Creating Accountability through Relief Trust India

Women and children's rights violation is nothing new in the face of mankind and India is no exception. But, what is more saddening is the fact that none of the violations are actually brought to book by holding the ones involved accountable for their actions. People seem less concerned about the welfare of children and women in society to an extent that the rights of the underprivileged groups are violated from time to time. A change is actually inevitable if at all we want to help improve the quality of life and the society in general. We need to make the society a better place for all, regardless of age, gender or social class by observing the rights of everybody in an equal manner. There are quite many organizations today in India alone championing for this change and Relief Trust India makes a way through to ensure women, children and the underprivileged rights are observed and accountability realized for those that are involved in the violation of the rights.

In the case of children, Relief Trust India has been involved in various cases pertaining the Indian family court system and Indian appeal system by ensuring prevention of acts such as kidnappings, child custody, neglect, abandonment and denial to access of children's rights. The government has actually been put to task by being held accountable for such acts and now more laws are being passed to safeguard the children and underprivileged’s rights in the society. The society needs to be a safer place for everybody and that everybody needs to access their rights without any limitation.

The government has also been tasked to ensure compliance to the child right protocol as set by the United Nations requiring implementation of the laws set and presenting an annual report on the same. Relief Trust India on its part has ensured that all children and women are treated equally as other individuals in the society through its rights advocacy programs monitoring the government as it undertakes the protocols. These programs, thus ensure that all protocols are followed and adhered to.

Parents that are involved in violation of children's rights have also been held accountable for the actions by Relief Trust India. The organization believes in observing children's rights at all times and that children should be allowed to occupy their rightful places in the family by getting provided for and secured at all times.
Sexual abuse and child labor are actually the most common crimes reported to the trust. Relief Trust India then took it upon itself to ensure anybody involved in the cases does not get let free without being charged. By so doing, the organization and others involved in the same affairs have greatly reduced the cases as many perpetrators have been successfully tried and charged. The organization has also worked hard to sensitize and educate the society on the importance of observing children's rights.

By offering a simple reporting process of the violations, many people are now able to bring to record the cases without fear or intimidation. Relief Trust India also keenly monitors schools where children spend most of their time and probably where their rights are most violated by their peers and from teachers. The organization campaigns for education for all children and anything against that is a violation of the children's rights. Street children and those living in slums are part of the role played by Relief Trust India to ensure all children access education and help change the future of the society in all aspects.
